St. Timothy Lutheran Church

St. Timothy Updates

Due to the

Coronavirus Pandemic

i

September 1 - We continue to see COVID levels fluctuate between low and medium.  Under both levels, masks are not required for indoor service.

June 19 - Chautauqua is now at the LOW level.  Masks are not required for indoor service.  As always - use your best judgment for your safety.

Our Drive-In service is available throughout the summer.

June 5, 2022  -  The Chautauqua Dashboard continues to put Chautauqua County at the high level.  However, the CDC site has us at medium. We will remove our face masks signs with the understanding that everyone will do what they feel comfortable with.

Our Drive-In service is available throughout the summer.

May 22, 2022 -   The Reopening Committee update:  community level of COVID-19 within Chautauqua County has been bumped to high — as positive cases of the virus continue to rise and fewer hospital beds are currently available. Face masks are now recommended indoors in public as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

As St. Timothy has taken great care to follow CDC guidelines for the safety of us all, we are currently recommending that everyone attending the indoor service wear a mask.   Our Drive In service is available throughout the summer.

February 27, 2022 - The CDC recommendations have changed.  All those who live in a low or moderate risk area need not wear a mask while indoors - vaccinatied or not vaccinated.   St. Timothy will adopt that recommendation with the understanding that people should feel free to wear a mask if they so choose.

February 10, 2022 - Gov. Hochul has lifted the mandatory mask mandate and is leaving masking up to individual businesses.  St. Timothy will ask that masks be worn into service and out of service, but if vaccinated you can be remove your mask if you feel comfortble doing so.

January 27, 2022 - Gov. Hochul has extended the mandatory indoor mask wearing through Feb. 10.

Dec 10, 2021 - State Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul speaks to reporters.

COVID-19 Coverage

NEW YORK (AP) — Facing a winter surge in COVID-19 infections, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday that masks will be required in all indoor public places unless the businesses or venues implement a vaccine requirement. Hochul said the decision to impose a mask mandate was based on state’s weekly seven-day case rate, as well as increasing hospitalizations.

The mask mandate applies to both patrons and staff and will be in effect from Monday to Jan. 15, after which the state will reevaluate. An average of roughly 9,740 people tested positive for COVID-19 over the seven days through Dec. 8 in New York, a 38% increase from the previous seven days, according to The Associated Press’s review of state data.

The surge is especially pronounced in some areas of upstate New York, which has accounted for nearly three-fourths of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in hospitals since August.

November 28 Update

COVID Protocol Update for St. Timothy…

As we begin the holiday season and, yes, winter, the COVID Reopening Committee has been keeping up to date on the latest numbers of COVID cases in Chautauqua County.  Unfortunately, our numbers are rapidly going up - with Chautauqua being the highest county in western NY.

With that in mind,

1.     We are asking that vaccinated people attending worship inside to please wear a mask until you are seated and on the way out after the service.  If you'd like to remove them during the service, that's your choice depending on your comfort level.  If you are unvaccinated, masks must remain on while in the church.

2.     We are also asking that you maintain a 6' distance in the pews.  With our numbers worshipping inside, it's possible to maintain a safe distance between families.

3.     When singing unmasked, please sing softly.

4.     Also just a reminder that our Drive In service is also available on FM 98.3.   We have a portable battery charger available every week, just in case, but have only had it use it once.

We've been so blessed during this pandemic to have maintained a safe environment in which to worship.  We will always error on the side of caution.  Thank you so much for all you do to keep safe and keep others safe.

The Reopening Committee

PLEASE NOTE:  Beginning Sunday, Sept. 12, we will discontinue our Summer Drive In Service and not make the bulletins available online.  However, in an effort to accommodate those who are still unable to come into the sanctuary, we will turn on the radio to broadcast the service and pass out bulletins and communion. Thank you for being a part of our worship!
